New to Internet Relay Chat (IRC)?
Here are some helpful Instructions
First, you wil need the IRC client. mIRC is a popular client for IRC, you can download it free at www.mirc.com. If you need a direct link the downloads page on the mirc site, it is http://www.mirc.com/get.html. The lastest version of mIRC is 6.21 (November 23rd 2006).
Some poeple choose to use an older version of mIRC personal or style reasons. You can find links to download the older version here, 6.03 is a popular older version. If you help installing mIRC, they have a guide on the offical mIRC site, http://www.mirc.com/install.html. Please note all these links list here were last check on Friday, August 10th 2007. |
Normaly the mIRC options will auto open. If it does not click the options icon.

When you open mIRC the Options will open up. Go to servers and click "Add".

Add Server, enter the server description, and IRC Server. Just put in irc.deltaanime.net for both. Then click "Add".

Next scroll down in the IRC servers list, and click/select irc.deltaanime.net, the server you just added. Then click "Select".

Enter your details into the connect opens and pick a Nickname for mIRC. After you do that click "Connect to server".

If the windows firewall message comes up, just click "unblock" so you can use mIRC.

Once it connects to the IRC server, the mIRC Favorites window will popup. Just enter #ia and click "Join", this will let you join our channel. If you do not want the mIRC Favorites to open on connect, just uncheck the box below.

You can also use the "Status" window. You can enter and use these commands to do the same thing. Typing /server irc.deltaanime.net will let you connect to the IRC server, and /join #ia lets you join the channel.

Other Options in mIRC
There are some other options in mIRC you might want to know about. Such as adding a timestamp and turning off sounds.
